Below is the link to the full recording of our presentation at the Manchester China Institute. Just before the event, we formally donated Sino-Muslim artwork to the Institute and arranged for two pieces to be exhibited on loan at the Manchester Museum nearby. These artworks, paper cuts by Gansu-based artist Ma Jun [马俊], are, to our knowledge, the first of their kind to be showcased in UK institutions.
Despite both Heng and I feeling under the weather on the day of our talk, the event proceeded exceptionally well. We engaged in a meaningful dialogue on the subject with experts from Manchester University, including David Stroup (chair and discussant), Rian Thum, and others.
There are also a series of well-edited shorts from the talk (see here, here, and here).
Further building upon this talk, a new monograph is currently in development, and additional events organised at the Hong Kong University of Science & Technology and Lingnan University, as part of a related Hong Kong-based project supported by funding from the British Academy.
