Activities in Hong Kong SAR, Indonesia & China

Throughout April and May this year, I undertook an extended research visit to Hong Kong SAR, Indonesia, and Mainland China, where I conducted lectures at the following institutions:

  • In Hong Kong SAR: Lingnan University, Hong Kong University of Science & Technology, University of Hong Kong
  • In Indonesia: UIN Jakarta (Syarif Hidayatullah State Islamic University), Sultan Ageng Tirtayasa University (UNTIRTA), and Yogyakarta State University
  • In Mainland China: Jilin University, building on previous collaborations with them (also see here)

My visit to Hong Kong was funded by the British Academy and focused on fieldwork for my project on heritage literacy in Hong Kong’s Muslim communities. The trip included extensive fieldwork with Indonesian and South Asian communities, and I look forward to publishing the results of this project in due course. I also used this opportunity to share my work on the Mainland China project. This post for a HKU blog encapsulates some of those discussions.

The Indonesia trip was multi-faceted and packed with numerous activities each day.

Below are some of the posters and other images for the events.
